School of Teaching and Learning
The School of Teaching and Learning strives to prepare exemplary teachers and teacher educators. It offers both graduate and undergraduate degree programs. The graduate programs include, but are not limited to, masterís certification in Elementary Education, English Education and Foreign Language Education. An undergraduate program is offered in Elementary Education.
Counselor Education
The mission of the Department of Counselor Education is to help graduate students become effective counselors and student support personnel in schools, universities, communities and private practice. The four major programs include School Counseling, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling and Student Personnel. The Department was ranked #1 in 1997 and #4 in 2001 by US News and World Report.
Educational Leadership, Policy and Foundations
The mission of the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Foundations is to develop and improve leadership in diverse educational settings. A Masterís degree is offered in Educational Leadership, Student Personnel in Higher Education and Social Foundations. A Specialist degree is offered in Educational Leadership and Higher Education Administration. Doctoral degrees are offered in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership, Education Leadership, Higher Education Administration and Social Foundations.
Educational Psychology
The Department of Educational Psychology focuses on cognition and learning, especially as they relate to problems of instruction, and on the psychological development, relationships and adjustments of the individual. Its programs for graduates include Educational Psychology, School Psychology and Researchers and Evaluation Methodology.
Special Education
The Department of Special Educational strives to promote the successful inclusion of individuals with disabilities and their families in society through excellence in the education of teachers and leaders, the generation of new knowledge and the application of existing knowledge. The Department has Special Education programs for both graduates and undergraduates.
