Dr. Zeus Leonardo, Associate Professor, Berkeley will be in Gainesville on Oct. 24 as part of Asian Kaleidescope month. With co-sponsoring from STL and from the College he has agreed to lead a conversation hour in the Terrace Room on Oct. 24 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. He has provided an article on the intersection of race and class as the kick-off for the conversation (attached). We hope that you will plan to join us for the conversation hour. This session is one way we can engage in conversations around our Strategic Planning goal of establishing a culture that is more affirming of diversity. In case you are not familiar with Dr. Leonardo, here are a few facts:
• Numerous publications on critical social thought in education with a focus on the relationship between schooling and social constructs such as race, culture, class and gender.
• He offers particular insight into issues around race, class, whiteness and education.
