The Office of Educational Research (OER) Associate Dean works to promote faculty scholarship and success in securing public and private funding and leads all matters related to research, contracts, grants, and faculty development to support the development of the COE research enterprise. She mentors faculty to initiate a research agenda and respond successfully to calls for external research funding, supports efforts to fund high quality doctoral students capable of contributing to the COE research agenda, manages a comprehensive OER, and continues to build necessary infrastructure for supporting research and development efforts. The Associate Dean also represents the COE research agenda and faculty research efforts with external funding agencies (e.g., IES, NFS, state of Florida agencies, private foundations) and represents the college research efforts within the university and externally. She is the primary liaison with campus and external funding agencies, and establishes strategic partnerships to pursue new research opportunities. The Associate Dean provides advice to the COE Dean and contributes to senior management team decisions, develops and maintains effective collaborative relationships with all relevant faculties and groups within the university, and works with the advancement staff to maximize private foundation connections in support of significant grants and gifts (e.g., for research centers and endowed professorships). She also performs other duties as assigned by the COE Dean.

The Research Director reports directly to the Associate Dean. The Research Director is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of and supervisory responsibilities in the OER; developing cross-departmental and cross-university collaborative teams to compete for grants; creating and overseeing maintenance of a database of funding opportunities; assisting faculty with identifying viable funding sources for proposal development; developing workshops and other training materials; performing faculty duties appropriate for an Associate Scholar; compiling data necessary for planning, directing, and reporting program activity; managing development and production of OER publications; and contributing to graduate education and faculty development tasks assigned to the OER.

The Executive Secretary assists the Associate Dean and Research Director in the overall operation of the OER and coordination of the OER with other departments in the COE. The Executive Secretary manages the front desk in the OER office; performs a variety of administrative duties; arranges travel; assists with production and dissemination of OER newsletters (Owl and Orb); assists with maintenance of the OER website; helps prepare faculty Promotion and Tenure packets; coordinates Visiting Scholar’s requests; assists with hiring of COE Fellows; works with the COE UFCC campaign; assists with Holmes scholars; assists with Student Alliance of Graduate Education activities and financial responsibilities; and performs other duties as deemed appropriate by the Associate Dean and Research Director.

The Senior Grants Specialist coordinates administrative activities for the completion and submission of internal and external contracts and grants submitted by COE faculty. The Senior Grants Specialist is responsible for reviewing requests for proposals (RFPs) to prepare for consultation with faculty; determining appropriate administrative and budgetary requirements; developing budgets and insuring accuracy and conformity with requirements; facilitating processes for moving contracts and grants through various levels in preparation for submission to funding agencies; providing technical assistance; implementing awarded contract and grants budgets in university budgeting and accounting systems; coordinating reporting requirements of the college, university, and funding agencies; and serving as a liaison between the college and other units related to the contract and grant process.

Editorial support for narrative portions of proposals; OER Web content; OER ORB newsletter
The Grant Writer provides support to COE faculty for the purpose of contract or grant proposal development and completion. The primary duties of the Grant Writer entail close collaboration with Principal Investigators (PIs) and staff in the OER. The Grant Writer supports the proposal development needs of faculty, specifically related to constructing and writing the narrative portions of the proposal; implements processes for shepherding proposals from start to finish; facilitates other activities related to proposal development; assists with maintenance of the OER website, assists with production of monthly ORB newsletter, and assists with various other duties as deemed appropriate by the Associate Dean and Research Director.

Database maintenance; Report compilation
The Graduate Research Assistant maintains a database and generates reports for proposal submissions and funded research grants for the COE. Additional duties include assisting with the review of grant proposals, conducting searches to support proposal development, supporting other OER activities including special events coordination, and assisting with clerical projects as needed.
