Online Certificates

The Educational Technology program offers four certificates: K-12 Teaching with Technology, Instructional Design, Managing Distance Education Environments, and Online Teaching and Learning. Non-degree seeking students may enroll in the certificate programs. Degree-seeking students may also apply for certificates in our program. All certificates require the completion of 12-credit hours. Please note that these certificates do not yield teacher certification. Those interested in completing a certificate must fill out the University of Florida’s application for admissions (scroll down to the “Certificate” section).

K-12 Teaching with Technology (12-hours)

The K-12 Teaching with Technology certificate is designed to prepare K-12 educators to meaningfully integrate information and communication technology into K-12 classroom to improve educational outcomes. This certificate provides students with a theoretical and practical grounding in how to use technology in traditional, blended, and online classrooms. The certificate requires the following courses:
EME 5404: Instructional Computing II: Media Ecologies and Open Education
EME 5207: Designing Technology-Rich Curricula
EME 5405: Internet in K-12 Instruction
EME 6059: Blended Learning Environments

Instructional Design (12-hours)

The Instructional Design certificate is designed to prepare professionals to design learning environment using a variety of media effectively and efficiently. This certificate provides students with a theoretical and practical grounding in how to design instruction. Students will learn about the five phases of instructional design: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The certificate requires the following courses:
EME 6208: Designing Integrated Media Environments I
EME 6606: Advanced Instructional Design
EME 6235: Managing Educational Projects
EME 6609: Instructional Design

Managing Distance Education Environments (12-hours)

The Managing Distance Education Environments certificate program is designed to prepare professionals to manage in distance education settings. This certificate provides students with theoretical and practical grounding in how to manage distance education environments. The certificate requires the following courses:
EME 6609: Instructional Design
EME 6235: Managing Educational Projects
EME 6458: Distance Teaching and Learning
EME 6236: Distance Education Leadership and Management

Online Teaching and Learning (12-hours)

The Online Teaching and Learning certificate program is designed to prepare professionals to design and deliver online courses. This certificate provides students with a theoretical and practical grounding in how to design and teach online. The certificate requires the following courses:
EME 6609: Instructional Design
EME 6458: Distance Teaching and Learning
EME 6059: Blended Learning Environments
EME 6208: Designing Integrated Media Environments I

Note non-degree seeking students that only 9-hours of coursework will transfer to a degree program.
