About

As the Director of the School of Teaching and Learning (STL), I lead a highly productive faculty toward excellence in teaching, research, and service. With over 40 faculty across disciplines yet all within Curriculum and Instruction, we value diversity, quality, equity, collaboration, respect, and transparency. I am also an active faculty member in the Teachers, Schools, and Society program within STL. I focus on job-embedded, inquiry-focused professional learning for teachers in high poverty schools, with professional learning communities, teacher leadership, and peer coaching as the foundation. I have taught and designed online courses for practicing teachers, with two rated Exemplary with our UF+Quality Matters standards. My research interests include the following: measurement and evaluation of professional development and the impact on teacher practice and student achievement; inclusive practices; measuring the impact of job-embedded graduate programs; teacher education; inclusive education; collaboration; professional development; professional learning communities; and critical friends groups. I am also an affiliated faculty member in the Lastinger Center for Learning, an endowed center at UF focused on improving outcomes for students by focusing on improved teaching and learning.
