About the Journal

The Florida Journal of Educational Administration and Policy (FJEAP) is an online, blind, peer-reviewed journal published by the University of Florida’s College of Education. The journal is published bi-annually in the Fall and Spring. Dr. Linda Serra Hagedorn, former chair and professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Policy founded journal in 2007.  In 2008, Dr. R. Craig Wood, Professor, succeeded Dr. Hagedorn as the journal’s editor. In 2010, Dr. Linda Behar-Horenstein, Distinguished Teaching Scholar and Professor succeeded him. The journal is housed in the University of Florida’s Department of Educational Administration and Policy in the School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education.

Under Behar-Horenstein’s leadership, the focus of the journal changed to a culture-centered focus to provide a dissemination of articles resulting from studies in leadership that have: fostered an appreciation for faculty and staff diversity; promoted culturally and linguistically responsive teaching, enacted an ethical obligation to help all students learn; and research that has explored how those practices have effected student achievement, school climate, and instruction.

One unique function of the journal is that the editorial board is comprised of mostly graduate students. Graduate students from across the University of Florida’s College of Education serve on the editorial board as members and as an Assistant Editor. In this capacity, students acquire expertise in reviewing articles for content and APA formatting, considering what makes a good research article, suggesting topics for special issues, and putting together issues for online dissemination.
