Manuscript Submissions

Submission Information

The journal is looking for articles that focus on the following four strands. Representative examples of studies are presented for each strand.

  • Culturally responsive leadership models
    • Studies of programs that teach cultural leadership, culturally sensitive research methods and social justice.
    • Studies that explore the differences between leadership practices of those graduates with school leaders who have graduated from traditional leadership programs.
    • Studies that assess the school-wide cultural competence and use results to make change.
  • Training in culturally responsive leadership
    • Studies of the differences in coursework and fieldwork between programs that promote social justice and traditional leadership training models.
    • Studies of experiential training in which students collect school level data about school’s responsiveness to diverse student groups and write about it.
    • Studies of practices that promote a critical stance toward educational policies
  • Culturally responsive leadership
    • School cultures, leadership practices and teacher instructional practices in schools where culturally responsive leadership is practiced
    • Leadership practices that consider community norms and aspirations
    • Studies that challenge the practice of Westernized views of leadership.
    • Research that explores how principals mediate their own vision and local cultural expectations.
    • Studying school leaders who lead for social justice.
    • Studies of school leaders’ intercultural competence.
  • Cultural responsive leadership and achievement
    • Studies that draw on the cultural and linguistic differences among students to improve teaching and student achievement.
    • Studies that portray teachers’ understanding of contextual variables are integrated into instruction
    • Analyses of classroom instruction
    • A systems approach study of how home, community, school, classroom and society effect student achievement
    • Studies that portray how adaptations of instruction towards culturally relevance impacts achievement
