Reading Education

“Reading is essential to success in our society.”
(Snow, Burns, & Griffin, 1998)

“Reading is the number one priority, and reading has been declared a critical teacher shortage area.”
(Florida Department of Education)

The main emphasis of the graduate program in Reading Education is to prepare exemplary researchers, teachers, and teacher educators who are committed to improving literacy education for PreK-16 students. The program is housed in the School of Teaching & Learning within the College of Education at UF.
