Purpose and Scope:
The MEd in Reading is designed to support practicing and prospective teachers teachers eligible for certification in promoting the literacy growth and academic achievement of all K-12 students. The College of Education at the University of Florida is NCATE (National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education) accredited.  The University of Florida does not offer automatic recommendation for Certification in Reading.  Upon degree completion, candidates interested in obtaining the certification should:

(a)  Submit transcripts for course count content analysis to the Florida Department of Education.

(b)  Take and receive passing scores on the Florida Certification Exam for Reading K-12.  You can also find information about the exam from the Florida Department of Education at http://www.fldoe.org.
