Traditional Masters in Educational Education

The School of Teaching & Learning is pleased to provide certified elementary teachers with an option to earn a Master of Education (M. Ed.) or Master of Arts (MAE) in Elementary Education. Admission to this program requires that the applicant hold (or be eligible for) a teaching certificate in elementary education or a related field.

A. General Professional Education

Social Foundations, Psychological Foundations, Tests and Measurement, Educational Technology

B. Elementary Specialization

EDE 6932: Perspectives in Instruction & Curriculum (3)

12 hours in coursework in one of the following:

  • Literacy/Reading Education

  • Math/Science Education

  • Interdisciplinary

  • Children's Literature

  • Educational Technology

  • ESOL

C. Strengthen Elementary Specialization

Select courses from inside or outside STL to meet professional goals of student:

  • Complete 12 hours of coursework in a second specialization area

  • Complete a set of courses in another area (i.e.: Special Education, Educational Administration)

  • Complete 12 hours in relevant content courses
