Unified Elementary ProTeach
The Unified Elementary ProTeach program is a five year teacher education program that culminates in Master of Education degree and recommendation for state certificiation as an elementary classroom teacher. The program is based upon broad theoretical and research foundations. The emphasis is on preparing all teachers to teach all children, including those with special needs and those from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds. The program is built on the understanding that effective teachers are reflective and committed to educational equity and student empowerment, that knowledge is constructed by learners, and that effective teaching/learning is grounded in student/teacher collaboration and teacher inquiry about effective practice.
The College of Education has established Academic Learning Compacts for our two undergraduate degree majors. These compacts are effective for all students entering the college as of Fall 2006. Learn more about the Academic Learning Compact for Elementary Education.
