Graduation Requirements for the B.A.E.
All courses must be completed with a grade of 'C' or higher to meet degree and certification requirements. Upon satisfactory completion of all courses with a minimum GPA of 3.0, a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree will be awarded. Completion of the B.A.E. does not complete the Unified Elementary ProTeach program. Initial certification will not be recommended before the student has successfully completed the fifth year AND submitted passing scores on the FTCE General Knowledge Test and Elementary (K-6) Subject Area Exam to the College of Education Office of Student Services (Norman G416).
Completion of the Bachelor of Arts in Education with an average GPA of 3.0 for the junior and senior years (whole semesters beyond 60 hours), a strong statement of purpose (why you want to enter the graduate program), 3 letters of recommendation, and target scores of 450 on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE are all data points used to holistically evaluate your application into the graduate year of the UEP program. Students who elect not to complete the graduate program may apply for admission to the non-degree post-baccalaureate program with departmental approval. It is highly recommended the GRE be taken early in the junior year.
Master of Education Degree
The Master of Education degree (M. Ed.) leads to certification in Elementary Education. Exceptional Student Education certification is optional.
