Online Teach Well Program
Teach Well consists of a minimum of 36 semester hours of graduate level credit. The program is designed to prepare teachers to work with students who have disabilities. The program covers a range of topics that address issues within the field of special education and designing effective instruction for students with various needs. Courses are delivered via distance education using a variety of online instructional methods. No on-campus meetings are required.
The program is designed primarily for part-time students. Generally, participants take 2 courses per semester (including summers) and complete the program in 2 years. A tentative program planner is attached.
Four courses in the program include projects for which program participants need access to a classroom or a student. These projects serve as program’s field component. Separate practicum experiences or internship placements are not required. Most Teach Well participants are practicing teachers and complete these assignments in their own classrooms. However, neither a background in education nor employment as a teacher is required to be eligible for admission to Teach Well.
