The College of Education has forged affiliations and strategic alliances with other educational organizations, both on and off campus, to address the most pressing education needs of the day, from pre-kindergarten through high school. These include the college’s own K-12 and laboratory school (P.K. Yonge School), and the UF Alliance, created to improve educational opportunities for minority students in urban high schools around the state. A recent affiliation with the Early Childhood Initiative Foundation in Miami demonstrates the college’s heightened emphasis on “school-readiness”—smoothing the transition to kindergarten and elementary school for young children who are likely to start school unprepared.
