Eric Richardson, counselor education doctoral student, was selected to receive the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Young Investigator Abstract Submission Award for his abstract for his poster presentation titled, “Perceived Quality of Sleep During Substance Use Disorder Treatment.”
Emi Lenes, graduate of the counselor education doctoral program, received a development grant to internationalize her course, “Multicultural Mindfulness.”
Caleb Chambliss, master’s student received the James W. Kynes Scholarship.
Caleb Chambliss, master’s/Ed.S. student, was a recent Tedx Talk speaker. Tedx Talks are short talks that are focused on the local community and involve local speakers. Caleb’s presentation was titled: “Representation: The Purpose of Your Story.”
The counselor education annual potluck was held in November and it was a huge success. Thanks to Beta Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota for planning this event.
Alisa Houseknecht, doctoral student, received a research grant from the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES) to support her dissertation titled, “Motivation, Belonging, and Support: Examining Factors that Affect Persistence in Counselor Preparation Programs.”
Two international students, Huzeyfe Cakmakci and Debolina Ghosh, in the Counselor Education Doctoral Program were recognized by the UF International Center in receiving certificates of excellence. Huzeyfe is from Turkey and Debolina is from India. Dr. Sondra Smith serves as the chair and mentor for both students.
Donielle Geoffrion is the recipient of the Florida Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (FACES) Scholarship
Shaun Anderson (master’s/Ed.S. student) and Christina McGrath Fair (doctoral student) presented at the Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues in Counseling (ALGBTIC) Conference in Portland, Oregon.
