Student Dissertations

Research and dissertations in our program focus on specific problems in students’ professional practice. Students describe the problem in the context of educational theories and prior research, identify applicable methods, implement research, report the results of their research and propose potential solutions based on those results, as embodied in the dissertation guiding principles of our program (Dawson & Kumar, 2014).

Our dissertations have successfully achieved the goal of the program, which is to bring about research-based change in educational environments. An analysis of student dissertations and documentation of impact revealed that implications and recommendations from the dissertation research conducted by several students from this program have been adopted and implemented in their professional environments (Kumar, 2014).

We began offering this program in 2008. Graduates of our program have been highly satisfied with the dissertation mentoring by our core team of full-time Educational Technology faculty. We use a combination of composite mentoring, small group mentoring, and individual mentoring to guide online students to successful dissertation completion.
