Program Overview

Coursework is delivered by knowledgeable, student-centered faculty and experienced administrators. The program includes mentoring, Florida Department of Education-required field experience and support for practicing school leaders.

Program Highlights

The M.Ed. can be pursued in one of two tracks – the degree with corresponding eligibility for Florida Level 1 certification in Educational Leadership OR the degree without corresponding eligibility for Florida certification in Educational Leadership.

    M.Ed. in Educational Leadership Program Requirements

    • bachelor’s, master’s, or terminal degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a degree deemed equivalent by the University Of Florida Office Of Admission.
    • minimum grade point average of 3.0 upper-division (last 60 credits) undergraduate work.
    • An acceptable graduate grade point average for previous graduate work.
    • Students completing the certification track are eligible for Level 1 certification from the state of Florida after completing three years of teaching experience.

    Typical Course Load: 6 credits per semester
    Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-time or Part-Time
    Application Deadline: February 15th (Summer), June 15th (Fall), and October 15th (Spring)
    Average Class Size: 10-15 students
    Program Completion: ~2 years
    COURSEWORK FOR SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TRACK: Students enrolled in this track will take 32 credits (LINK) in courses aligned to leading schools and the Florida Educational Leadership Standards (FELS).
