University of Florida EdD Candidate, Michael Chaires, was named Florida Assistant Principal of the Year for 2024. This honor, awarded by the Florida Department of Education, recognizes the leadership that Chaires has provided at Palatka Jr.-Sr. High School in Putnam County. Michael Chaires is in the final year of his EdD as part of the LEAD program in UF\u2019s Educational Leadership and Policy program area, working closely with Dr. Walter Balser, his dissertation chair.<\/p>\n
The Florida Assistant Principal of the Year award has been awarded annually since 1997 and honors assistant principals who make outstanding contributions to both their schools and communities.<\/p>\n
