Office of Educational Research Improvements to OER Services

Improvements to OER Services

June 11, 2026

The COE Office of Educational Research (OER) thanks faculty for taking the time to complete its survey on services offered. In response to survey results, OER will implement the following action items that are designed to reduce Principal Investigator (PI) administrative burdens, enhance reporting precision, and foster engagement.

Assist with Internal Document Correction: The Pre-Award Team will directly correct minor document errors rather than requiring PIs to resend files or save as PDFs. OER staff will email the revised versions, outline the changes made, and request a final review and approval from the PI.

Enhance Budget Justification Support: Initial outreach emails to PIs now feature a new option for budget assistance. Once PIs write the budget justification narrative portion, the Pre-Award Team will automatically insert figures and calculate the final totals.

Provide Automated Current & Pending Reports: The Pre-Award Team will leverage Enterprise Analytics to generate comprehensive Excel spreadsheets tracking PI current and pending grants, including direct links to UFIRST for each project listed.

Separate Tenure & Promotion and Clinical Promotion Support: OER has separated training overview sessions for tenure track and clinical faculty to provide a more tailored approach to the unique needs of each faculty role.

Update Email Lists for OER Newsletters: OER staff updates the faculty email lists for all newsletters each semester. Faculty are encouraged to review their Spam mailboxes, as the OER Research Bulletin newsletter might appear there. Newsletters are distributed every other Thursday at 11 AM.

Enhance Networking: To further build inter-departmental rapport and ensure the Pre-Award Team is highly accessible, the Pre-Award Team will (1) continue to visit each school’s faculty meeting once per year, (2) continue to meet with any faculty member one-on-one, (3) host a meet and greet session at the beginning of each semester, and (4) continue its open-door policy.

OER thanks its COE faculty for their continued collaboration and support.
