Funding Opportunity: American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS)

September 17, 2026

The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) is accepting applications for its Digital Justice Development Grants, which provide between $50,000 and $100,000 to support digital humanities projects that critically engage with the interests and histories of people of color and other historically marginalized communities.

The program supports projects that use digital tools and methods to expand access to knowledge, engage underutilized or understudied source materials, and strengthen capacity for digital scholarship. Competitive projects should move beyond the prototyping or proof-of-concept stage and articulate the next financial, technological, and intellectual phases of development. Projects may also incorporate student training, community partnerships, new technological infrastructure, or collaborations across academic and cultural heritage institutions.

Grant periods must begin between July 1 and December 31, 2027, with project workplans lasting 12 to 18 months. Applications require several components, including open-ended narrative responses, a bibliography, and institutional verification. Applications are due November 3, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. EST. Faculty interested in applying are encouraged to review the full program guidelines and application requirements available on the ACLS Digital Justice Development Grants website.

Deadline: November 3, 2026 | Amount: $50K to $100K
