Funding Opportunities: NSF

September 30, 2026

The National Science Foundation Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (NSF CISE) is encouraging proposals across the breadth of computing research and highlighting several opportunities supporting foundational research, AI-enabled scientific discovery, research infrastructure, and the next generation of computing researchers. Current opportunities include the NSF CISE Future Computing Research (Future CoRe) program, which supports research and education across computer and information science and engineering; NSF Expeditions in Computing, which supports large multidisciplinary teams pursuing ambitious, long-term foundational research; and Unlocking Dataset Value for AI-Enabled Scientific Discovery, which seeks to make existing scientific datasets more accessible and ready for AI-enabled analysis. In addition, the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program supports graduate students pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in STEM, with applications in computer and information science and engineering due October 19. Faculty are encouraged to explore these opportunities and share relevant programs with students and colleagues.

Deadlines: Unlocking Dataset Value – November 4, 2026 | Graduate Research Fellowship Program – October 19, 2026 | Future CoRe – February 4, 2027 | Expeditions in Computing – July 27, 2027
