English Education Certificate Program

Application Instructions

The English Education Certificate program adheres to the University of Florida’s Graduate School’s minimum admission requirements, including a required 2.5 GPA or higher in upper-division undergraduate coursework (last 60 hours).

Certificate Application Directions

  1. Apply Online to the University of Florida Graduate School.

  2. Academic Background: Provide official transcripts demonstrating a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a focus in a recognized English discipline.

  3. Statement of Purpose: Submit an essay explaining why this certificate program is an appropriate fit for your professional goals, including your intentions for using it as the foundation for an online M.A.E. in English Education.

  4. Certification Examinations: Provide passing scores for the Florida Teacher Certification Examination’s (FTCE) General Knowledge Exam (or provide acceptable GRE scores for a waiver), as well as passing scores for the FTCE in English, 6-12.

  5. Statement of Eligibility: Submit your Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Statement of Status of Eligibility.
