My current research endeavors include examining the role of instructional coaching on preservice teacher development; exploring preservice teachers understanding of LGBTQ issues in schooling, and studying the impact of implementing edTPA on student teaching interns. I have also been involved in research projects to examine pre-service teachers' work in high poverty schools, and transformation in the perspectives of teacher educators toward a social justice standpoint. I was also the lead researcher on a project that completed a detailed literature review on Professional Learning Communities. I spent three years working with a team that interviewed award-winning teachers about their classroom practices, mentoring, and professional development. My dissertation was on the identification with academics of six African American boys living in poverty.
