What is an acceptable GPA?
A minimum grade point average of 3.0 upper-division (last 60 credits) undergraduate work.
When will admission decisions be made?
Admission decisions are made after the priority deadline, typically by October 1st.
If I miss this application deadline, when will I be able to apply again?
Cohorts are only accepted every two years. Applications for the 2024 cohort have closed. Applications for the 2026 Higher Education Hybrid Ed.D. Cohort will be accepted beginning January 15, 2025, and must be submitted by July 1, 2025. After that, the next cohort will begin in spring 2028, and applications for that cohort will be accepted beginning on January 15, 2027.
Will any in-person meetings be required?
Traditionally, classes in the blended Ed.D. are offered online with students attending two to three weekend meetings per semester. The class meetings are held in rotation at the University of Florida and additional colleges and universities within the state of Florida. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the format of synchronous sessions has been modified to comply with recommendations from UF Health and the CDC. Does this program require a dissertation?
Yes, a dissertation is required to complete the higher education Ed.D. program. The entire program of study is 90 credit hours, which includes 21 credit hours of dissertation research. You can view academic requirements here.

Will I be able to interact with my classmates and the instructor?
Will any of my previous graduate courses count towards completion of the hybrid Ed.D.?
Our program of study incorporates 15 hours of transfer credit from previous graduate coursework. Faculty advisors work with each student during their first year to identify previous graduate coursework that fits into the program of study.
