Step 1: Submit your University of Florida Graduate School Application

Applicants

  • Under Program of Study, select Higher Education Administration – Doctor of Philosophy as your desired program
  • A $30.00 (non-refundable) Application Fee is required. Credit card payments require an additional $7.00 processing fee
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose (1-2 page overview of why you want to pursue a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at UF)
  • Transcripts sent to:
    University of Florida
    Office of Admissions
    PO Box 114000
    Gainesville, FL 32611-4000

NOTE: Previously enrolled graduate students, who have skipped two or more terms, and are looking to return to the exact same program and degree level at which they previously attended, should apply using the Returning Student Application.

Step 2: Supporting Application Material

When completing your online application to UF, you will be asked to upload your STATEMENT OF PURPOSE and RESUME. Please upload these items as PDF documents.

All additional Required HE Program Application Materials (see below) must be uploaded under the Other Upload section (label it HE Application Materials) after you have uploaded your resume.  The remaining three items must be scanned or saved into one PDF document and uploaded as one document:

Required HE Program Application Materials

  • CV or Résumé
    • Pursuant to Florida Statute, your application requires inclusion of all post-high school education and employment, as well as information about ongoing international affiliations and research funding. Please ensure this information is included on your curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé.
  • Writing Sample – Please upload any writing sample to demonstrate your mastery of graduate-level writing (e.g. policy brief, conference proposal, class paper, journal article, etc.)
  • Application for Fellowship or Assistantship (Ph.D candidates only)

    Application Deadlines

    • Applications for admission to the Higher Education On-Campus Ph.D. program beginning Fall 2024 will be accepted until January 15.
    • Allow 2-4 weeks to gather all application materials, including all official transcripts and letters of recommendation, as all materials are required for review and admission.
    • International applicants should consider that the application dates may not allow enough time for processing of immigration requirements. It is strongly advised that international students apply at least 6 months before the date they intend to start the program.
