The New Worlds Reading Initiative is transforming literacy across Florida by delivering free books and engaging activities directly to students from VPK through 5th grade who are striving to read. This program is sparking a lifelong love of learning, empowering young readers with high-quality books tailored to their interests.
Impact by the Numbers
By enhancing early literacy, we’re not only boosting reading skills but also building confidence and curiosity in students, setting the foundation for their future success. This initiative is a key step in ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive academically.
Since launching in December 2001, our program has reached over 350,000 children and distributed more than 7.3 million books. Each shipment represents an opportunity to spark a lifelong love of reading and open new worlds of imagination for children across the state.

Student Success and Growth
Students enrolled in our program demonstrated impressive growth, achieving up to a 70% increase in reading achievement between August 2023 and May 2024. These students outpaced their non-enrolled peers in state assessments, highlighting the program’s effectiveness.
Empowering Educators
Supporting educators is key to our mission. Over 20,000 teachers participated in our Professional Learning initiatives to enhance their skills in guiding Florida students toward reading proficiency.
Innovative Tools for Learning
Between the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years, we will distribute approximately 60,000 Kibeam Wands to eligible 1st and 2nd graders across Florida, providing new ways to engage with learning.
