“Receiving this award is an incredible honor. It’s a reminder of why I love teaching and the impact it can have.” Vetere said. “It’s not just about my work, it reflects the growth, voices and achievements of my students who inspire me daily. Knowing that my efforts have made a difference in their lives is what makes this recognition truly meaningful.”
Vetere has been teaching at the University of Florida for seven years. Students have expressed their appreciation of his commitment to their success over the years, emphasizing Vetere going above and beyond to ensure that they feel supported every step of the way.
“What keeps me motivated is seeing my students grow, not just in what they learn but in how they think and approach the world; watching them have those ‘aha’ moments, challenge ideas and gain confidence is incredibly rewarding,” Vetere said.

“Receiving the Undergraduate Mentor of the Year Award is a tremendous honor that reflects a commitment to fostering academic growth and personal development among our students. It recognizes the effort put into building meaningful relationships with undergraduates, providing guidance and creating a supportive learning environment,” Brown said. “I believe it demonstrates the positive impact of empowering students to achieve their full academic and professional potential.”
Brown aspires to continue making an impact on students by deepening her commitment to mentorship as well as creating an environment where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed.
“I plan to continue cultivating innovative, inclusive strategies that address our students’ diverse learning styles and challenges. Ultimately, I aim to inspire students to excel in their careers and become compassionate, reflective leaders who, in turn, will make a difference in the lives of those around them,” Brown said.
Rossie was recognized as the 2024-2025 Professional Adviser of the Year. Through her constant support and guidance, Rossie has played an integral role in student success.
“[This award] reflects my ability to guide, mentor, and support students toward achieving their goals, and it acknowledges the long-term value of my work,” said Rossie, an academic advisor in the college’s student services office. “My motivation stems from a deep commitment to helping students succeed, guiding them through challenges and seeing them grow personally, academically and professionally.”
For over three decades, Rossie has guided students throughout their education journeys at UF. Students shared that she helped them build confidence in their academic journey and constantly demonstrated qualities that set her apart such as compassion, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to student success.
“As I prepare for retirement this year, I reflect on the lives I’ve influenced and the many students I’ve helped toward achievement of their goals,” Rossie said. “I hope to leave a legacy of impact and care, and this award is a perfect capstone to my career.”
