The University of Florida College of Education has risen to No. 2 among all education schools in the country according to the 2026 Best Graduate Education Schools by U.S. News and World Report.

Up from No. 6 last year, the recognition affirms UF as a national leader in educator preparation and collaborative application of interdisciplinary research. The college’s consistent climb in rankings over the past two decades demonstrates UF’s endeavors to enhance education for Florida, the nation and the world.

The College of Education also remains at the forefront of online graduate education, holding one of the top two spots nationwide for 11 consecutive years. Currently ranked No. 2, this sustained recognition underscores UF’s delivery of flexible, innovative programs and high-impact learning opportunities for students and education leaders across the country.

In specialty rankings, both the Counseling (No. 2) and Special Education (No. 5) programs have maintained top-five designations for the fourth consecutive year. UF ranked in the top 20 of nearly all possible program categories, including Elementary Teacher Education (No. 12), Curriculum and Instruction (No. 17), Educational Administration (No. 19) and Higher Education (No. 19). These specialty rankings are based on peer assessment by academic leaders, reflecting the college’s strong reputation in the field.

U.S. News created the 2026 Best Education Schools rankings by surveying 263 education schools granting doctoral degrees. Assessed categories included research activity, quality assessment, faculty resources and student selectivity.

Immersive learning, forward-thinking faculty, effectively applied research funding, and dynamic partnerships continue to power the college’s success. UF’s upward climb is unparalleled among colleges of education nationwide.
