The yearly event highlights philanthropy and honors students who have contributed to the success of this past year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Donors and supporters of the college gathered to recognize the determination of our 2023 scholarship and award recipients. The recipients\u2019 work <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">continuously<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> raises the standard of excellence for the College of Education. Each in their own way, these students have gone above and beyond what has been expected of them, raising the bar for future education students. Join us in congratulating our 2023 award recipients: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brian Abramowitz, Hannah Fox and Michael Scofield.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V0TP6jVvnGY?si=XgMAJrLTt88M4_r5\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><b>Outstanding Graduate Research Award- Brian Abramowitz<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Brian Abramowitz<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction. Brian has achieved a Bachelor\u2019s in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Secondary Education and Earth Sciences as well as a Master\u2019s in Adolescent Special Education. He has <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">demonstrated excellence through his socially responsible and community-oriented AI in education research, and exceptional outreach to Florida\u2019s K-12 schools. Beyond his research, Brian has served as President of the Student Alliance of Graduates in Education (SAGE), working to further other students\u2019 opportunities to engage in and disseminate their own work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Brian Abramowitz<\/p>\n<h3><b>Outstanding Graduate Leadership Award &#8211; Hannah Fox<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Hannah Fox<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is a student in the Educational Specialist in School Counseling and Guidance. Hannah has achieved a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Psychology and is working toward a Master\u2019s in Counselor Education. The award was earned for her work alongside a team of four supervisors in the Early Childhood Education bachelor\u2019s program. The faculty selection committee was particularly impressed by Hannah\u2019s use of the Practice Based Coaching framework and her success in leading the new supervisors to meet departmental goals for model fidelity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Outstanding Graduate Professional Practice Award &#8211; Michael Scofield\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Michael Scofield<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is a doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction. Michael has achieved Bachelor\u2019s in English Education and a M.S. in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Higher Education Administration. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Michael\u2019s service to the profession includes playing a pivotal role in revising and strengthening core courses in the college\u2019s undergraduate teacher education program. In addition to recognition as an excellent course instructor, Michael helped secure grant funding in support of the Akwaaba Freedom School which provides summer enrichment through a research-based and multicultural curriculum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In addition to recognition of student excellence, nine professorships were awarded.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Irving &amp; Rose Fien Endowed Professorships:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/faculty\/curran-f-chris\/\">Chris Curran<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/faculty\/ortagus-justin-c\/\">Justin Ortagus<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>BO Smith Research Professors:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/faculty\/moore-rob\/\">Rob Moore<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/faculty\/newbutt-nigel\/\">Nigel Newbutt<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Rosser Educator Excellence Awards:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/faculty\/cheyney-collante-kristi\/\">Kristi Cheyney-Collante<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/faculty\/mawdlsey-helena\/\">Helena Mawdsley<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Diane E. Haines Teaching Excellence Awards:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/faculty\/jung-hyunyi\/\">Hyunyi Jung<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/faculty\/curran-f-chris\/\">Chris Curran<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Dennison Teacher Researcher Excellence Award:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/pkyonge.ufl.edu\/about\/faculty-and-staff\/leigh-anne-brewster\/\">Leigh Brewster<\/a> (P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Congratulations to the outstanding scholarship and award, and professorship recipients, their achievements and dedication to the College of Education have truly set them apart. We would also like to thank the dedicated donors and supporters. The realization of these opportunities and events are made possible through their unwavering support and generous contributions.
