The goals for the Budgetary Affairs Committee (BAC) for the 2024-2025 academic year are listed below, along with progress made toward these goals. This is followed by our recommendation for carry forward goals for the 2025-2026 BAC Committee.

BAC Goals for 2024-2025
1. Review, advise, and make recommendations to the Dean related to the CoE budget.
a. Progress toward outcome: The committee met once per semester and received all requested updates from Dean Good and Hector Silva. This included on-going progress of expenditures along with carry forward information to get an understanding of future budget projections

2. Engage in discussions with Dean Good, Hector Silva, Jim Burke, and Thomasenia Adams regarding carry forward dollars, development dollars, and research dollars
a. Progress toward outcome: At the spring 2025 meeting in March 2025, Hector, Jim and Thomasenia each presented the requested information to the committee followed by questions and answers so that the committee members could provide input and develop a stronger understanding of the monies associated with each respective area.

3. Provide input to help the Dean and Director of Finance to understand faculty perspectives, priorities, and views on budget issues as well as engage in conversations around matters that could impact the CoE budget
a. Progress toward outcome: This was accomplished through ongoing discussions that occurred in BAC meetings in both fall 2024 and spring 2025

4. The committee also wanted to gain further knowledge around tuition monies in terms of the BAES program and teacher preparation programs. Additionally, we believed it would be helpful to recruitment efforts for programs to have more data on monies by program level (Undergrad, Masters, EdS, EdD, and PhD)
a. Progress toward outcome: This was briefly discussed aa part of the conversation in the spring 2025 meeting with Hector providing more general information on the potential need to raise tuition in the future while figuring out the “sweet spot” for that without hurting recruitment. This conversation warrants additional future discussion.

Priority areas for the 2025-2026 BAC to consider:
1. We recommend that the committee continue conversations related to goal 4 from the 2024-2025 committee.
2. We recommend that the committee continue to have in-depth discussions regarding how ongoing budgetary models will impact the CoE. These discussion should address how the BAC and faculty in general will provide input as the budget continues to shift and evolve.
