{"id":1319,"date":"2025-12-15T17:57:22","date_gmt":"2025-12-15T17:57:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/personnel-affairs\/?p=1319"},"modified":"2025-12-15T18:02:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T18:02:16","slug":"continuing-coe-idea-conversations-20-3-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/education.ufl.edu\/personnel-affairs\/2025\/12\/15\/continuing-coe-idea-conversations-20-3-16\/","title":{"rendered":"Continuing COE IDEA Conversations 20.3.16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.24.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.24.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.24.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.24.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]We* propose an aligned infrastructure to address needs of faculty, staff, and students based on shared priorities (see below) and aligned with the CDL (UF Council of Diversity Liaisons) framework for implementing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA).<\/p>\n<ul class=\"arrow-bullets\">\n<li>FPC ad hoc committee report is forthcoming<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The current COE D&amp;I statement includes the following indicators that are fairly concrete and can guide priorities:<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"arrow-bullets\">\n<li><strong>Diverse faculty<\/strong> (D&amp;I recruitment plan, intentional recruitment, targeted hiring, mentoring and retention) \u2014 primarily Faculty Affairs, T&amp;P<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diverse student body<\/strong> \u2014 primarily through EduGator Central<\/li>\n<li><strong>Curriculum, programs, degrees, and certificates<\/strong> \u2014 primarily Curriculum Committee, Technology &amp; DE, schools<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cultural competence<\/strong> \u2014 primarily D&amp;I Committee, LSAC, Staff Council\/HR and Business<\/li>\n<li><strong>ADDED in discussion: Inclusive environment<\/strong> (collegiality, P&amp;T guidelines reflect valuing diversity) \u2014 primarily LRP, Staff Council\/HR and Business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>GOAL<\/h3>\n<p>By the fall 2020 faculty meeting, the COE will establish an action plan to include objectives, activities, and outcomes to support IDEA for faculty, students, and staff.<\/p>\n<h3>Proposed Action Items<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"arrow-bullets\">\n<li>Share the IDEA framework with the COE community<\/li>\n<li>Begin coordinated planning and implementation of activities for:\n<ul class=\"arrow-bullets\">\n<li>Faculty (FPC; incoming FPC leadership)<\/li>\n<li>Students (EduGator Central, student organizations)<\/li>\n<li>Staff (Staff Council, Ellen Young, Sandra Bass)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>FPC committees will develop IDEA-focused guiding questions and expected outcomes\/metrics for all activities<\/li>\n<li>Conduct a biannual climate survey for faculty, students, and staff to inform ongoing planning<\/li>\n<li>Establish a dashboard for tracking identified IDEA-focused metrics (support from etc)<\/li>\n<li>Identify shareable resources and PD opportunities (possibly in collaboration with Center for Teaching Excellence)<\/li>\n<li>Integrate into Deans\/Directors meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>* A small group has been meeting to discuss establishing a coordinated focus for diversity initiatives in the college. This group began with a set of questions on the current landscape in the college.
