At UF, we offer an on-campus Ph.D. in research methodology and evaluation designed to prepare specialized experts for roles as academics, consultants, researchers and a variety of other high-level evaluation roles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pursuing a Ph.D. in research and evaluation at UF is a hands-on learning experience. Doctoral students are involved in collaborative research projects with faculty from their first year. We expect, and support, our students to propose and lead studies, present results at national conferences and publish academic papers throughout their time in the program. To ensure your degree aligns with your specific career goals, you can choose to specialize in either area.\u00a0 The quantitative methods specialization focuses on advanced statistical training. The qualitative specialization, a highly sought-after track offered by only a handful of programs nationally, focuses on systematically analyzing deeply complex human data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both pathways offer incredible flexibility to select electives and graduate minors across the university. The student is allowed to take the qualifying exams after all required classes have been completed. At the request of the student, the advisor is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the qualifying exams. The comprehensive qualifying exams has written and oral parts. The written exam lasts 12 hours over two days (6 hours each day in two blocks of 3 hours).<\/p>\n<p>The student is expected to answer questions about all the domain areas of the Research and Evaluation Methodology program. After the student has completed the written exams, the doctoral committee will review the student\u2019s responses. If the committee judges the responses satisfactory, they will authorize the student to schedule an oral exam. The oral exam is expected to last two hours. The student is allowed to take the qualifying exams after all required classes have been completed. At the request of the student, the advisor is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the qualifying exams. The comprehensive qualifying exams has written and oral parts. The written exam lasts 12 hours over two days (6 hours each day in two blocks of 3 hours).<\/p>\n<p>The student is expected to answer questions about all the domain areas of the Research and Evaluation Methodology program. After the student has completed the written exams, the doctoral committee will review the student\u2019s responses.
