How to Apply

The School of Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies is pleased to offer a variety of degrees for students. Each of these degrees has different admission requirements; therefore, we encourage you to explore the information for your specific degree.

Applying for Certificate Admission

Please visit the UF admissions site for official applications. Scroll down to the Certificate section.

If you are a current UF student in any UF program, you will click on the “Current Student Applicants” apply button. If you are seeking our certificate program and are new to UF, please click on the “Non-Current Student Applicants” apply button.

Applying for Masters Admission

Applicants who have been admitted to UF’s Graduate School previously need to submit the Application for Readmission. This application is submitted in hard copy, not electronically. All other requirements for admission are the same as those listed above for your intended degree and should be submitted in hard copy or emailed to contact-se@coe.ufl.edu.

Applicants new to UF should submit the application for admission via the UF web site (http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/start.html).
Within the application system, you will indicate the program to which you are applying (e.g. special education; school psychology; early childhood).

If you want to have letters of recommendation sent electronically, you will need to provide email addresses for your recommenders. They will receive a link to a recommendation form that can be completed and returned to your application file. Hard copies of recommendations are also accepted. Recommenders can complete the recommendation form or write letters to be included in your file.
The statement of purpose can be composed in a separate document and pasted into the application.

Other documentation required for M.Ed. applications:
Request official transcripts from colleges/universities you have attended and have them sent to the Office of Admissions (P. O. Box 114000, 201 Criser Hall, Gainesville, FL 32611-4000, USA). If the original transcript is not in English, an English translation must also be provided.

Request official GRE scores be sent to UF (institution code 5812).
International applicants must submit official TOEFL, IELTS, or MELAB scores. Minimum scores required for admission are: TOEFL (computer): 213, TOEFL (Internet): 80, and TOEFL (paper based): 550; IELTS: 6, MELAB: 77.

Submit a writing sample. See information about to your intended program for more specifics on requirements for the writing sample.
Submit a copy of your resume or curriculum vita.
Applicants interested in being considered for fellowships or assistantships need to submit the fellowship/assistant application.
