Project DECODE 2.0 is a personnel preparation grant that supports special education and school psychology scholars’ development of interdisciplinary expertise in evidence-based academic assessment and intervention for students with dyslexia and other Specific Learning Disabilities (SLDs).<\/p>\n
Special education and school psychology scholars take coursework, engage in a Community of Practice, and coordinated field experiences to implement evidence-based reading interventions with students with high-intensity needs. Scholars participate in interdisciplinary peer mentorship, capitalizing on training strengths to support peer implementation of assessment and\/or intervention practices. The overarching goal of the project is to reduce the critical shortage of special education teachers and school psychologists with expertise in evidence-based academic assessment and intervention to ultimately improve academic outcomes for children and youth.<\/p>\n
