Jeanne-Marie R. Stacciarini, RN, PhD, FAAN
Dr. Stacciarini is an associate professor, the Director of Diversity and Inclusion and the Equity officer
in the College of Nursing, University of Florida. She coordinates the EMBRACE program, which
provides research and leadership opportunities for Underrepresented Minority students (URMs) in
nursing. Dr. Stacciarini is recognized as an outstanding advisor/mentor, an international educator and
a transformational leader, diligently working with and for URMs.
Dr. Stacciarini research focuses on identifying approaches to address social determinants of mental
health in underserved and minority populations. Over the last decade she has been actively
supporting, collaborating and mentoring minority health researchers. Dr. Stacciarini has partnered
with faculty from the U.S., Mexico and Brazil on studies to understand gender, race and health
disparities. She has published and presented research in English, Portuguese, and Spanish to
promote global scholarly advancement in nursing.
Dr. Stacciarini has received several awards for raising cultural awareness in teaching, fostering civility
in the workplace, advocating for diversity, inclusion and equity and for developing research with
hard-to-reach and underrepresented populations. Some of her awards are: the UF Diversity and
Inclusion in the Workplace, UF Inclusive and Excellence Diversity Award, the Southern Nursing
Research Society Award for Research in Minority Health, the American Psychiatric Nurses
Association Research Excellence and a Fulbright Fellowship Award. Dr. Stacciarini is a Fellow of the
American Academy of Nursing.
