FTCE Prep Course Information
Santa Fe’s Continuing Education office is offering a GK prep course and K-6 prep course this summer. See attached flyer for details and registration information. The class begins on June 5th.


FREE GRE WORKSHOP 
The UF Teaching Center offers this workshop Monday through Thursday, July 10-13, from 5-7 p.m. each day. The Verbal sessions are Monday  & Wednesday, and the Math sessions are Tuesday and Thursday.  You can register for just the math sessions, just the verbal sessions, or all four.  Go to www.teachingcenter.ufl.edu, then “study skills” then “workshops” to register and learn the workshop location.


Fall 2017 Graduate School Doctoral Research Travel Award Application Deadline 6/16/17 5 p.m.   
The UF Graduate School Doctoral Research Travel Award provides funding for research-related travel expenses for UF PhD students in selected majors in the humanities, arts and social sciences.  This program is for students to effectively conduct doctoral dissertation research away from UF when faced with inadequate departmental funding.

EduGator Central – Student Assistant Position
This is a part-time FEDERAL WORK STUDY (FWS) position in the College of Education EduGator Central office for Summer 2017 with potential to continue in Fall and Spring semesters. This position assists in the administration of the department’s activities. Applicant should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to work independently. Further details and application are located here. Intern / Aide Needed
4 year old daughter with Down syndrome currently attends Stepping Stones preschool at Trinity UMC in a typical 3 yr. old classroom and is doing pretty well. However for next fall in pre-k, she will need an intern or aide to assist her with understanding directions, center time, transitions, etc. She will be attending school Mon- Fri from 9am-12pm. My daughter is potty trained, she speaks in phrases and knows a lot of sign language, she knows her abcs, numbers thru 20, colors, shapes, days of the week, etc. Most of the 3 yr old curriculum.  She has difficulty focusing and paying attention, and struggles with fine motor skills. NYC DOE Teacher Application Final Deadline–June 21st
For those thinking about your next steps after graduation, fret not, the NYC Department of Education has some exciting upcoming events!

As a reminder, the application to teach in the New York City Department of Education (teachnyc.net) is SEPARATE from your certification application with New York State (nysed.gov). If you are interested in teaching in New York City, you should complete our teacher application (teachnyc.net) as soon as possible to notify us of your interest and begin your job search. You should not wait until all of your certification requirements (exams, workshops, etc.) are complete to apply to TeachNYC!  As long as you are on track to receive your certification by September 5th, 2017, you should submit your New York City teacher application as soon as possible.

Kindering (Bellevue, WA) – Hiring Early Childhood Special Educators 
Calling all Early Childhood Special Educators! Since 1962, Kindering has been providing life-changing interventions and therapies for infants and young children with disabilities and their families. Located in the Crossroads neighborhood of Bellevue, Washington, Kindering is at the heart of the rapidly growing Greater Eastside of Seattle. The depth and scope of services provided at Kindering is unmatched. Our core – Early Intervention – helps 2,000 children with disabilities reach critical developmental milestones each year. Additionally, we offer specialized therapies for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, children in foster care, consultation for local childcare centers and other wrap-around programs support families, siblings and caregivers of disabled children. Volunteer Opportunities

Balance180 Hands-On Volunteer Opportunities
Balance 180 is a local non-profit organization that focuses on integrating children with varying abilities through sports. Our volunteers work 1-1 or 2-1 with our athletes who have disabilities including autism, Down syndrome, ADD/ADHD, and cerebral palsy among others. This is a great hands-on learning experience for student volunteers.

This summer, we have two opportunities to work with our athletes:

1. Adaptive Gymnastics Classes- Saturdays, 12:30-1:30pm from May 27th-July 29th. This is a gymnastics class that is specifically designed for children with varying abilities. We set up the gym in 4 rotations that include vault, floor, beam, and bars, so that our athletes can work on a variety of motor skills. Information on this program can be found in the flyer below. If you are interested in being a part of the Adaptive Gymnastics volunteer team, please contact Ashley Tringas at balance180adaptivegymvolunteer@gmail.com. No gymnastics experience is required to volunteer.

2. Balance 180 Summer Camp- Monday-Friday (mornings) from July 10th-July 28th. Summer camp is a life-changing experience where you have the opportunity to work with kids with special needs to help them make friends, enjoy gymnastics, dance, create arts and crafts, and play games. The camp is available for kids ages 2-15 with and without special needs (see flyer for more details). After School Help Needed for Fall
I am seeking to hire someone to pick up my children (ages 10 and 7) from their elementary school near campus and care for them (snack, play, homework) in my home  until I get home from work. Hours: 1:30-4:30/5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday beginning 8/14/17. Seeking someone with experience, reliable, with own transportation, and capable of a minimum one semester long commitment. Some degree of comfort with special needs is desirable, as my younger daughter has Down syndrome.  Nice schedule for someone with just morning classes, or someone interning in a local elementary school. After School Help Needed starting July 1st
We are looking for an after-school nanny for our 7-year old son for M-F (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm) & Thurs. (7:30 am to 8:30 am), starting July 1, 2017. Seeking an enthusiatic and responsible caregiver for my 14 year old son and 8 year old daughter starting Fall 2017 (and summer 2017 if available). We live in SW part of town near Haile. Requirements: Safe driving record, good references, non-smoker, and reliable car. Duties: Include pickup from school, helping with homework, driving kids to activities, supervise outdoor play, help with minor chores such as kids laundry. Hours for Fall 2017: 2.40PM-5.30 PM (+/- 30 mins), Monday through Friday (approx. 12 hrs per week).
