Internship Orientation for Fall 2018 InternsThursday, December 7 at 9:30am
Early Childhood, Elementary & Special Ed Students who will be doing their FULL-TIME INTERNSHIP in Fall 2018 must attend Thursday, December 7, Norman Hall Auditorium Room 137 – 9:30am ALL STUDENTS.


African Americans in Paris
Dr. Sharon Austin, Director of the African American Studies Program and Associate Professor of Political Science, is teaching an African Americans in Paris class during spring break 2018. Students can earn 2-3 hours of credit hour and the course is open to all students, all majors, and to both graduate and undergraduate students. In Paris, we will visit a number of historic sites of significance to African Americans. The $2846 cost for undergraduates doesn’t include airfare, but does include lodging, some meals, transportation in Paris, and tickets to all of the site visits. Opportunity for Graduate Students
The Center for Ethics and Education is pleased to announce an essay competition for graduate students. We are looking for essays that use philosophical insight and argument to address an important issue in educational policy and/or practice. The problem the essay addresses might arise in early childhood education, compulsory education, or post-secondary education, or in the way children are raised in families. Details here.

Eligibility: The author or co-authors must be enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college or university, but must not yet have defended their PhD by December 1st, 2017. Co-authors will split the cash prize.

Awards:
·         The author/s of the first prize paper will receive $3000 and an invitation to participate as a discussant in one of the Center’s regular workshop-style conferences (invitation includes airfare, accommodation, food).
·         The second prize winner/s will receive $2000.
·         Third prize will receive $1000.

3rd Annual SESPECS Research-to-Practice SymposiumFriday, December 1
The Third Annual SESPECS Research-to-Practice Symposium will focus on bringing together all of our Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies graduate students with faculty from within and outside of UF’s College of Education in a professional conference-like environment. Dr. Howard Wills will serve as our keynote speaker highlighting his work in applied research in supporting adolescents and young adults with autism. Additional details attached.


Teacher Job Fair 
Somerset College Prep Academy and Somerset Academy St. Lucie located in Port Saint Lucie, Florida is looking to hire teachers for the upcoming school year. Somerset is going to be hosting a job fair on January 27, 2018 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at Somerset Academy St. Lucie (4402 SW Yamada Drive Port Saint Lucie, Florida).

We have a few different sign up bonuses that we offer our teachers such as: up to $800 relocation fee if the applicant lives outside of a 1 hour drive radius, $500 sign on bonus if the applicant lives inside a 1 hour drive radius, and a $250 referral fee. Long term substitute needed
