UF in Cuba | Summer 2020 FAS 4932/FAS 6932
UF in Cuba will give you a hands-on understanding of the coastal & island ecosystems of central & southern Cuba, the impacts of human land-use activities on ecological communities, and an introduction to Cuban history & culture. The program will begin on campus prior to departure with an ecosystem introduction and planning meeting to prepare for the intensive 13-day program. This meeting will be recorded so students not in Gainesville prior to departure can participate. African Americans in Paris | Spring 2020 AFA 4905
Dr. Sharon Austin, Professor of Political Science, will provide information about her African Americans in Paris class in the large conference room of the UF International Center (located in the Hub down the hall from Starbucks) on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 3pm. Before we leave for Paris, the class will have to watch online lectures and documentaries and write three 3-4 page papers. Brown Center for Leadership & Service: Projects for Peace Information Sessions

Projects for Peace, a grant program sponsored by the Davis Foundation, will be holding information sessions to guide undergraduate students through the process of designing a summer project proposal! Cade Museum Outreach Intern

Reports to | Outreach Coordinator
Schedule | 10-15 hours/week, between 9am and 5pm Monday-Friday. May require occasional evening or weekend hours.
The Cade Museum for Creativity & Invention is looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and committed intern to assist with all aspects of the museum’s STEAM-based educational outreach programs. This internship will provide the student with real-world experience in outreach program development, delivery, and evaluation. The position involves administrative and research tasks, as well as direct interaction with children of all ages in museum, school, and community settings.
Internship Duties
- Assist Outreach Coordinator with planning, set-up, and breakdown of program events
- Assist Outreach Coordinator and other Museum Educators with facilitation of outreach classes and school visits
- Assist with data tracking and entry, filing, and other administrative tasks
- Special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Comfortable interacting with preschool-aged and elementary school-aged children
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, preferred

Hope Panhandle in Panama City Beach, FL
After Hurricane Michael pummeled through the Florida Panhandle, a group of local volunteers established the non-profit, Hope Panhandle, committed to offering relief and recovery to the Panhandle. What began as serving meals and offering items of necessity quickly transitioned into rebuilding construction efforts assisting people who have found little to no hope of moving “back home” due to the storm’s devastation. If you are interested in rebuilding homes for families who have been impacted by natural disaster, then this is the trip for you!
