Information Session for the UF Educational Leadership PhD Program
Students interested in careers in educational research and leadership are invited to the College of Education’s Educational Leadership PhD Information Session on December 5th from 5-6PM in Norman Hall Room 2-240.The Educational Leadership PhD prepares students for careers in academic settings, school district research departments, state departments of education, and a variety of educational leadership roles. Faculty bring expertise in a number of high-demand areas including education law and finance, education policy, and research methodology. MLK Day of Service 2020 | Registration Open
The event will take place on January 20th from 8:30am-2:00pm, meeting in the Rion Ballroom in the Reitz Union. Students will be able to reflect on the importance of service and its’ connection with diversity and inclusion while giving back to the Gainesville community at the same time at 7 different service sites in the area. Participants in MLK Day of Service will help gain experience in: building awareness to diverse social issues and communities, taking initiative to act on local issues in the Gainesville/North Central Florida area, and learning how diversity and inclusion align themselves in the realm of service learning. Projects for Peace
Projects for Peace is a grant program that aims to motivate undergraduate college students to create and implement plans for building peace in the twenty-first century. The top proposal selected will be granted $10,000 to implement their project during the summer. Scheduled 1 on 1 consultations will be offered to students who are interested in receiving feedback throughout the proposal process in the Brown Center for Leadership and Service in the Reitz Union, room 2017. Description: EduGator Central, located within the College of Education is looking to hire for an office assistant for the Spring 2020 semester. This is a part-time FEDERAL WORK STUDY (FWS) position in the College of Education EduGator Central office for Spring 2020. This position assists in the administration of the department’s activities.

Pay: $10.00 per hour
Minimum Requirements: Must be FWS eligible, in good academic standing, and must be able to work approximately 15 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Fessenden Elementary School Teacher Positions (2)
Description: Fessenden Elementary school in Marion County is searching for two teachers: one for first grade and one for second grade. Florida Elks Youth Camp Counselors
Description: We’re an 8-week non-profit residential camp in Umatilla, Florida. We do a week of staff training, and 7 one-week sessions of camp. We see about 336 campers every week between the ages of 9-13. Counselors are responsible for their cabin of 7 campers, and partially responsible for the development of their CIT. They receive $300 a week for this. Almost all of our campers come from the state of Florida, which makes us different than many camps out there. This season we run June 7th to August 1st. Any staff who works for us become eligible to apply for the Van Duren Scholarship. This scholarship is up to $5,000 a year for 4-years; even applies towards graduate degrees. Every year is a new year, so a student has the opportunity to get more money every year based on their academic and personal performance.

Marcus Autism Center Research Assistant
Research Assistant for the Marcus Autism Center Pediatric Neuroimaging Research Program:
The Marcus Autism Center is hiring a Research Assistant within the Pediatric Neuroimaging Research Core. This position is for Bachelor-level or above applicants who have prior experience working in a clinical and/or research environment. Successful applicants will engage in two years of clinical and research experiences through various longitudinal MRI studies of infants at high and low-risk for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and through an MRI study of participants with 3q29 deletion. The primary responsibilities of the Research Assistant will be collecting MRI and eye-tracking data from infants and children, conducting clinical assessments on these participants, data entry and management, and consenting, scheduling, and hosting families who participate in our studies. The Research Assistant will also have the opportunity to attend events such as autism grand rounds meetings (twice a month), our summer-intensive training seminar covering clinical research in autism (one week), and weekly lab meetings. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who have previous experience with infants or young children with autism and who are interested in research operations and neuroimaging research.

Marcus Autism Center Fellowships
Description: The Marcus Autism Center, in conjunction with the Emory University School of Medicine and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, is offering four fellowships: the Cohen Fellowship in Developmental Social Neuroscience, the Simons Fellowship in Computational Neuroscience, the Education Sciences Fellowship, and the Marcus Fellowship in Speech Science and Engineering. Students who will receive a bachelor’s degree by June 2020 will be eligible for the positions. The fellowships will commence in July 2020, and they are 2 years in duration. Positions:
- The Cohen Fellowship in Developmental Social Neuroscience will involve cutting-edge social neuroscience research in infants, toddlers and adolescents. Fellows will work to further the understanding of autism through eye-tracking research, guiding a project from the point of data collection to publication of results.
- The Simons Fellowship in Computational Neuroscience will involve integrating computational strategies with clinical research goals. Fellows will develop methods for the analysis of visual scanning and eye-tracking data, computational models of visual salience, and data visualization techniques, all with the aim of advancing the understanding of autism and efforts at early diagnosis.
- TheEducation Sciences Fellowship will involve research in educational innovations in autism, from early child care through high school. Fellows will learn about classroom-based interventions to increase social emotional engagement and inclusion, gaining experiences with observational research methods, cutting-edge intervention research, and implementation science approaches.
- The Marcus Fellowship in Speech Science and Engineering will involve researching early vocal development, including speech production and speech perception, as part of a program to map out both typical and atypical development of spoken communication in early childhood.
