TeensWork Alachua is a collaborative initiative between the Children’s Trust of Alachua County and Goodwill Industries of North Florida. We are currently recruiting volunteers to answer our local crisis hotline, as well as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988).

The Alachua County Crisis Center provides free and confidential crisis response services to Gainesville and the surrounding community, almost all of which are provided by highly trained volunteers. Volunteering with the Crisis Center is a great way to support our community and those in need; while also learning valuable communication skills you can use for the rest of your life.

Training starts on Tuesday, May 26^th, and is over 70 hours over the course of eight weeks. Volunteers learn crisis intervention and suicide prevention skills, which prepares them to answer phones on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (988) and our local crisis hotline. The Deeper Purpose Kids Academy is seeking committed volunteers to help tutor young students, help them with their homework, and arrange regular community events, like reading circles. We are conducting an international research study to better understand how university students think and act when it comes to microplastics—tiny plastic particles found in food, water, and the environment. These particles may affect human health, but awareness and education around them vary across different countries and cultures.

This study will be conducted in the United States, France, and Turkey, allowing us to compare student knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors across different regions.

By participating, you will help us:

• Measure student knowledge and behaviors related to microplastics
• Compare awareness levels across multiple countries
• Identify educational needs and policy gaps
• Lay the groundwork for developing future public health campaigns and university-level environmental education

Balance 180 Gymnastics offers two volunteer opportunities where students get to work closely with athletes in a supportive, hands-on environment. We work with athletes of all abilities and support individuals with a wide range of diagnoses, including Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, and more. Volunteers are typically paired 1-to-1 or 2-to-1, creating a really meaningful experience as they help athletes build gymnastics skills, grow in confidence, and feel successful in each class.

Throughout both programs, volunteers play an active role in assisting with gymnastics, crafts, games, and group activities, all while working with children of a wide range of abilities.

Adaptive Gymnastics Program (begins May 23):
– Saturdays, 1:00–2:00 PM

Inclusive Summer Camp (Shifts available over these 3 weeks):
– July 13th – 17th
– July 20th – 24th
– July 27th – July 31st

Study Details: This study will explore College of Education students’ awareness, interest, and involvement in undergraduate research opportunities at the University of Florida. The results from this study will help define a model for current participation in undergraduate research, which will be used to determine strategies and techniques to better encourage undergraduate participation in College of Education research opportunities.

Participants will be asked to take a brief survey, which should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. Upon completion, participants can volunteer to participate in follow-up interviews to further explore their perspectives on undergraduate research in the College of Education.

We are seeking after-school/summer camp pickup and homework help for our 7-year-old daughter from ~4pm-6pm, M-Thurs in the Northwest Gainesville/39^th Ave area. Our program provides flexibility with our tutors and our student athletes. Tutors can work with individuals or in small group settings.  Tutors and student athletes (and sometimes advisors) work together to set up times that are best for everyone, we have morning, afternoon and nighttime sessions in our center in Farrior Hall on campus. Pay rate will be determined based on level of education as well as teaching/tutoring experience, and undergraduate students start at $15/hr, graduate students start at $17/hr, and PhD candidates start at $20/hr.
