Career Confidence Series – Feb 17 – 27th

This series was created with College of Education students in mind! Attend these events in the series to help you develop professionally, build your confidence, and start your career. Events range from a Panel of New & First-Year Teachers, Career Conversations with COE Grads Beyond the Academy, Supporting Dual Language Learners in Our Classrooms, and financial literacy. Week 1:

Feb. 17: Networking with Confidence, 3:00 – 4:00 PM, Norman Hall 1-155 & livestreamed*
Gain strategies to build professional connections and network authentically with ideas of who to talk to, where to network, and what to say. Attend the session on campus or stream online! Register to livestream this event*

Feb. 18: Panel of New & First-Year Teachers, 7:00 PM, Norman Hall 2-240
Come join Kappa Delta Pi at an OPEN MEETING (all are welcome) to hear from a panel of New & First-Year teachers! Learn more about the meeting here.

Feb. 19: Social Impact Career Trek with the United Way of North Central Florida
Visit three local nonprofits with a focus on education, health, and homelessness plus learn about the United Way’s impact on our community! Transportation and lunch will be provided. Register at bit.ly/37Zg7ps

Feb. 19: Adulting 101: Secure the Bag – Financial Management 101, 3:00 pm – 4:15 pm, Career Connections Center & livestreamed 
Attend this workshop to learn from a financial planner on how to budget, prepare for regional cost of living, and understand the importance of credit, debit, and savings. Register to livestream this event*.

Feb. 20: Alternatives to Academia: Career Conversations with COE Grads Beyond the Academy, 11:30-12:30 PM, Norman Hall Terrace Room
SAGE will be hosting an informal event and inviting College of Education alumni to share their experiences job searching and working outside of a traditional classroom environment. This event is open to all students with a focus on students curious about or considering careers outside the classroom. Learn more here.

Feb. 24: Supporting Dual Language Learners in Our Classrooms, 7:00 PM, Norman Hall Terrace Room
Discussing best practices to support and include English Language Learners in our classrooms. This event is open to all students/majors. Learn more here.

Feb. 25: Teaching Portfolio Review workshop, 3:00 – 4:00 PM, Online
A teaching portfolio can showcase your teaching and professional strengths and help you stand out in searches for academic positions. Graduate students and Post docs will learn how to create a teaching portfolio in this interactive online workshop. Feb. 26: Tell Me About Yourself – Interviewing Strategies, 3:00 – 4:00 PM, Norman Hall 1-155 & livestreamed*
Students will learn interviewing techniques and strategies that will leave a lasting positive impression when interviewing. Register for a livestream of this event*

Feb. 27: Drop-in Resume Critiques, EduGator Central (Norman Hall 1-106), 1:30 – 3:30 PM  
Stop by for a quick 10 – 15 minute resume review.
