The Pre-Education part of it is the same for both programs. As a Pre-Education student, you’ll discover more about the teaching profession, sample classrooms at the grade level you want to teach, complete all UF general education requirements, and prepare for ProTeach upper-division admission. The ProTeach upper-division and Fifth Year is the intensive teacher preparation track.
As a Pre-Education student, if you discover you’re more interested in teaching at the middle school or high school level, you should change your major to the SUBJECT you want to teach, likely in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Then, you could either (1) add a minor from our college for temporary teacher certification in Florida with the bachelor’s degree, or (2) wait until after the bachelor’s degree to pursue a master’s degree in our college for professional teacher certification.
