The Teacher-Child Interaction Direct Observation Scale
The Teacher-Child Interaction Direct Observation Scale (TCIDOS) is a direct observation interval recording system that measures the occurrence of teachers’ use of the BEST in CLASS practices as well as teacher-child interactions, and child behaviors. During BEST in CLASS implementation, the TCIDOS is used to provide graphical feedback during coaching. Observation sessions last a total of 15 minutes per teacher-child dyad. In the 15-minute observation session, there are a total of sixty, 15-second intervals. Each interval is broken down into a 10 sec observation period and a 5 second recording period.
Performance-based Graphing Program
The Performance-based Graphing Program is an excel program that provides an easy format for graphing performance-based feedback to use during the practice-based coaching process.
BEST In CLASS Adherence and Competence Scale
The BEST in CLASS Adherence and Competence Scale (BiCACS) measures the extent to which BEST in CLASS practices are implemented as intended (adherence) and the level of skill and responsiveness (competence) in practice implementation. Each dimension captures a unique aspect of treatment integrity that together, or in isolation, may be responsible for change in child behavior.
