LRP End of Year Report 2023-2024

The LRP committee suggestion for the college to focus on for the next year: Given the current political climate, post-tenure review mandates, and recent legislation pertaining to recruitment of students’ from designated “countries of concern,” the LRP committee thinks the college should focused on Goal 1, Objective 1: UF students, faculty and staff with increasingly diverse demographic and geographic characteristics. The evolving climate may pose a risk to the diversity of our college by potentially leading to the leaving of faculty members or losing prospective students. This issue is more tangible in smaller programs that have historically had higher numbers of international students. Additionally, faculty prospects have also been impacted by the current climate. Therefore, considering this matter warrants our attention and may be a suggestion worth considering for COE’s leadership. We propose the following actions: (1) Conducting an investigation into the
extent to which the college may have been influenced by the recent issues mentioned above over the past year; (2) Engaging university-level leadership to communicate our concerns; and (3) Identifying and recommending strategies to mitigate the potential impact on COE in both the short term (next year) and the long term (next 5 years).
