Nathan Hanson & Elayne Colon present to the committee.
Nathan Showing Data
- Fall 2023 applicant and enrollment data
- Data not cohort data
- Data showing is only for Fall 2023
- Tom: wondering if there is any change compared to prior years
General Goals of Committee
- Goal is to increase pool of applicants and enrollment of said students to be more varied.
- Support colleagues in online recruitment and retention by providing resources with college.
- Where else are the spaces where we can be supportive?
Future Data Request by Committee to Nathan and Elayne
- Applicants, admits, enrolled, provided over 3 academic years. Need to see 2-3 year for all online graduate program across demographics
- Add years in the field if possible
- Age
- Would be helpful to see both fall and spring of year
- We have a goal of comparing data year to year, semester to semester too
- Uncompleted application vs completed – Nathan – not really possible
- No – not possible coming from 3rd party – “paid application fee”
Re: summit in April – may not see a difference here re: summit results.
Questions
- Do we collect data on 1st generation college students? Only at undergraduate level. Probably not.
Nathan – can provide more data for 3 semesters: Summer fall spring. Fall is a benchmark.
Elayne – New Idea
- All program coordinators to development program improvement plan (CIPs)
- Continuous improvement plans – submitted
- Can we look at strategies from CIPs – is there analysis there re: what strategies proposed?
- Could provide the row of Action items off of CIPs
Elayne – Report on Monitoring a Particular Legislation HB 1035 – Line 256
“Public school teachers get 6 credits per semester!”
- Dual enrollment http://laws.flrules.org/2023/38
- Section 5. Section 1009.31, Florida Statutes, is created to read:
- 1009.31 Dual Enrollment Educator Scholarship Program.
- (1) The Dual Enrollment Educator Scholarship Program is established to assist teachers of grades 9-12 in public schools in this state in obtaining the graduate degree and credentials necessary to provide dual enrollment coursework directly to students on the campuses of such schools.
- FL DOE – They are building a website for interested teachers.
- Discussion with SUS counterparts – up to the institution can decide whether or not offer waivers.
- Maybe way to minimizing AP courses for dual enrollment.
Tom re: Data on Applicants & Enrollment
- Who do we have in data pull provided by Nathan?
- Answers a version of the question – compare some of the rows to
- Current enrollment is likely about last 3 years of applications.
- Is there alignment or does it look different?
