Key features of this initial teacher preparation program consist of:

  • Supervised clinical experiences in local elementary schools each semester where students apply, extend, and reflect on the concepts, questions, theories, and teaching models studied in university-based courses
  • A full year internship in an elementary classroom during the senior year to promote intensive professional development with practicing elementary school teachers in a whole school/community context
  • Themed block scheduling with courses taken alongside a motivated cohort of peers
  • Specialized coursework that prepares students to work with culturally and linguistically diverse learners and to become actionable leaders in and beyond the classroom
