LANGUAGE, EDUCATION & TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE

This 12-credit graduate certificate provides a synergistic understanding of educational technology and the teaching and learning of languages. The certificate provides training in creating technology-enhanced language curricula and appropriately applying technologies for language education. Graduates of this certificate will be prepared to transform learning by integrating technology into language instruction.

Admissions

This certificate is open to current UF graduate students and non-degree-seeking individuals, such as career educators seeking professional development. Applicants must have obtained a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution.

Requirements for Completion:

  • Required courses (6 credits)
    TSL 6245 Language Principles for ESOL Teachers (3 credits; letter graded) OR TSL 6385 Technology for Teaching Languages and Reading (3 credits; letter graded)
    EME 6059 Blended Learning Environments (3 credits; letter graded)
  • 1 Language Ed Elective (3 credits). Choose 1 from the list below*:
    TSL 6385 Technology for Teaching Languages and Reading
    FLE 6167 Cross-Cultural Communication for Teachers
    LAE 6348: Teaching Multiliteracies
  • 1 Ed Tech Elective (3 credits). Choose 1 from the list below*:
    EME 5207 Designing Technology-Rich Curricula
    EME 6067 Emerging Learning Technologies

*With advisor permission, an appropriate EDG 6931 (special topics) course may be approved to fulfill elective requirements.
