Dr. Maria Coady is the ESOL program coordinator and Associate Professor. Dr. Coady’s research includes teacher education and professional development for rural educators of English learners, multilingual education, and cross language transfer and meta-knowledge in the writing of bi/multilingual students. She serves on the board of the Centre for Multilingual Education and Literacies in Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr. Coady is a U.S. Department of State, Fulbright Specialist Scholar.

Dr. Ester de Jong is the Director of the School of Teaching and Learning and Professor. Dr. de Jong’s research focuses on dual language, two way immersion programs in the U.S. and teacher education. Dr. de Jong serves as President of the international TESOL organization (tesol.org) and is originally from the Netherlands.

Dr. Candace Harper is an Emeritus Associate Professor in ESOL. Her research focused on second language reading development for bilingual children and teacher education. Dr. Harper has served on state- and national- boards and organizations during the span of her career, including Sunshine State TESOL, consultant to the Florida Department of Education, and national standards committees for teacher education.

Dr. Cindy Naranjo is an adjunct faculty member in ESOL. She is responsible for ESOL-infusion among the program areas in the College of Education. She also works in teacher professional development.
