Summer Undergraduate International Research Program (SUIRP)



The Summer Undergraduate International Research Program (SUIRP) provides University of Florida undergraduate researchers with a life-changing opportunity to conduct research at a foreign institution.






Eligibility




  • Minimum 1 year of UF research experience

  • Must have a valid passport

    *Passports can take up to 2 months to receive

  • Must not be graduating before December of the calendar year

  • Must be minimum of 8 weeks


HOW TO APPLY


Students applying to SUIRP will apply directly to the Center for Undergraduate Research and must be submitted in person the the CUR office in Newell Hall, Room 202.  Any incomplete applications will not be considered for this award.


APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS



  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

    Two page maximum, with 11 or 12pt font, 1″ margins. Your CV should emphasize your previous research experience, any international experience, academic background (including publications and awards).

  • Statement of Proposed Research Project

    Your statement should be 2-3 pages, with 11-12pt font, 1″ margins. Your statement should define the goals and objectives of the proposed research project and the description of the work to be accomplished during the period abroad.

  • Projected Budget

    Cannot exceed $5000, including $457 in fees

  • Letter of Support from Foreign Research Institution

    This letter should confirm that the institution agrees to host the UF student. The letters can be addressed to the ISP Review Committee and should be included in your application package.

  • Letter of Support from Faculty Research Mentor

    The letter should affirm the student’s strengths as an undergraduate researcher and show support for the candidate to engage fully in the program and fulfill the required program responsibilities


Program Requirements




  • Register with the International Center

  • Enroll in a one credit course (determined after selection)

  • Attend the pre-trip orientation

  • Attend weekly group zoom calls during trip

  • Attend post-trip debrief meeting

  • Present your work at the Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium



Each SUIRP Scholar is required to make a presentation at the University of Florida Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium by presenting a poster, an original creative work, or their e-portfolio.





Spring 2025 Degree Application Deadline | Friday, February 7, 2025

Are you completing a degree or certificate this Spring 2025?  In order to receive your degree or certificate, you must apply by the deadline, Friday, February 7th. Applications do not carry over from term to term. You must submit a new application for the term you intend to complete your degree/certificate. Apply now through ONE.UF (click on the Menu > Academics > Degree/Certificate Application).

We are excited to announce that the 2025 College of Education (COE) Research Symposium is currently accepting applications for dedicated undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Education to join the Executive Board of the Symposium Planning Committee.

The George A. Smathers Libraries are interested in understanding the perceptions, needs, and experiences of neurodiverse faculty, staff, and students at the libraries. Your responses will inform future decisions about the libraries. This survey presents multiple choice and open-ended questions about your perceptions, needs, and experiences with the George A. Smathers Libraries.


This survey is likely to take no more than 5-10 minutes. Every 20th participant who submits a completed survey will receive a $15 gift certificate, up to 20 recipients.

CoE Graduate Program Student Personnel in Higher Education is Recruiting New Students

The University of Florida Student Personnel in Higher Education program is designed to prepare students to enter Student Affairs or related fields in higher education or education adjacent professions.


Students who join the SPHE on-campus master’s program graduate prepared to take on leadership roles in student affairs and related fields in a variety of settings. This program integrates academic coursework with practitioner-based experience to put theory into action as a scholar-practitioner, while growing your connections and building relationships across the Gator Nation.


The SPHE master’s degree consists of 33 credit hours of core classes and 3 credit hours of supervised practicum and internship experiences (36 credit hours total). Students enter the graduate program in the fall semester as members of a cohort group. The group provides support and builds a sense of community for the students. All students are assigned a faculty advisor at the time of admission and have a graduate assistantship.

Active Learning Program (ALP)-Spring/Summer 2025 Internship

Are you an undergraduate looking for an internship or research position in the upcoming Spring or Summer 2025 semesters and interested in developing your personal-professional skillsets? The Active Learning Program (ALP) is a 1-semester internship and research program that connects eager, well-trained undergraduate students with UF faculty and community mentors engaged in in-person, remote, and hybrid internship and research projects. Interested students apply to be enrolled in the in-person 3-credit Active Learning Program IDS4940 course where they earn mentored internship/research experience, develop their personal-professional strengths, and more!

Spring 2025 Paid Student Internships at the University Press of Florida

The Marketing Intern assists the Marketing Department of the State University System Press (University Press of Florida) in spreading the word about books published by the Press to readers everywhere, helping find, grow, and interact with audiences for Press books. The position also performs other clerical duties as assigned. Excellent written communication skills and organizational abilities are essential. This position is ideal for students who enjoy reading and discussing books, who want to gain experience in the publishing business, and who are interested in exploring book publishing or marketing as a career. The Marketing Intern will gain practical and professional knowledge about the publishing industry and marketing. The Press office is located in Gainesville. This position is eligible to be either in-person or remote.

Environmental Education Internship-Spring 2025

Alachua Conservation Trust is now taking applications for our Environmental Education Internship in Spring 2025.

Are you interested in environmental education? Do you want to provide students from Title I schools with free-to-access science education in the outdoors? Do you have availability on Fridays from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM?

Become more familiar with outdoor education programs, gain real working experience with underserved elementary-age students, and develop marketable science communication and outreach skills by interning with ACT’s Creekside Environmental Ed for Kids Program! Pro Football Academy

The Pro Football Academy, the largest youth soccer training program in the UK operates over 150 academies and have helped over 10, 000 kids take their game to the next level in a fun, safe and educational environment. We are expanding the program here in the US starting in Florida and have begun recruiting coaches to join our team on a full or part-time basis.
We are interested in building a relationship with the university and offering employment opportunities for current and former students that may have interest to pursue coaching as a career or just as a way to make some extra income in a sport they love.

Internship Opportunity with Energy Bus for Schools

A local Gainesville family is seeking students whose native language is English to tutor a 16-year-old boy on the autism spectrum. He is intelligent and has no behavioral issues. The tutor will primarily assist with reading comprehension, speech, some high school homework, and social communication skills. Additionally, the family is looking for a student coach to help the boy with swimming, basketball, tennis, or other outdoor sports. The pay is $30-35 per hour.
