Giving Day Ambassador Opportunity for Students– February 19

Interested students can serve as a Giving Day Ambassador for the College of Education. Ambassadors receive a custom fundraising link unique to them, which directs their followers to the COE Giving page. When signing up, students should select the “EduGator Fund” as their campaign of choice.

Ambassadors are encouraged to use their link in all Giving Day posts. When two or more donors give using an ambassador’s link, they’ll earn a pair of exclusive Giving Day socks.

Our goal is to increase awareness and engagement for the College of Education while driving donor participation on Giving Day.

Call for Student Research Proposals – COE Research Symposium 2026

It’s that time of the year again!

We’re excited to invite graduate and undergraduate students to submit research proposals for the College of Education Research Symposium, taking place on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026. This student-centered symposium is your chance to showcase your work, share ideas, and gain conference-style presentation experience in a supportive environment.

This year’s theme, From Ideas to Impact: Advancing Education for the Gator Good, highlights student work that connects research, practice, and real-world impact. We welcome research that advances education in meaningful ways, including interdisciplinary projects grounded in educational inquiry. Students at all stages of their research journey are encouraged to submit.

UF McNair Scholars Program

The McNair Scholars Program here at UF is a TRIO program designed for undergraduate students who are committed to advancing their education through research and scholarship with the goal of earning a PhD or another research doctorate who are first-generation and income-eligible students.


The McNair Scholars Program provides research experience, faculty bonding, skill building workshops, and further mentorship to better prepare graduate school education and research!


Scholars are inducted and begin their McNair journey through the summer internship program that allows them to conduct and present research at the annual SAEOPP conference!


To be eligible for the program:



  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident



  • Be a First-Generation College Student who is also Income-Eligible Based on Taxable Income



  • Have a Strong Interest in Graduate Education and Research

UF in Belize-Summer A 2026

PROGRAM


UF in Belize: NGOs, Sustainability & Development is a transformative study abroad program that explores the domain of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs…aka. nonprofit organizations) within the context of their roles, operations & impacts on environmental sustainability and social development across the globe and specifically in the beautiful Central American country of Belize. The program offers two undergraduate or graduate courses (FYC4427/FYC6423: Non-governmental Organizations & FYC4932/FYC6932: NGOs – The Field Study) and has strong academic, experiential, contextual, multicultural learning elements. The program includes 21 days travels across Belize for: field visits with 8 NGOs for a deeper understanding on their services, clients & impacts; observation of Belizean marine & forest eco systems; visits to a local university, a school, the U.S. Embassy, and Pace Corps Office; and field stays on an island, a rain forest, and a wildlife sanctuary. EXCURSIONS


The program includes several excursions to major landmarks and cultural sites, including the Belize Barrier Reef (second largest in the world), Garifina Museum, Xunantunich Mayan archaeological site, a Maya village, and more!


HOUSING


Students will stay in the dormitory cabins of Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, an environmental NGO located on a 1000 acre conservation land. The group will also stay three days/nights each in the cabins of Las Cuevas Research Station in Chiquibul Rain Forest and Tobacco Caye on the Belize Barrier Reef for field visits to protected forest and marine areas.


WHAT’S INCLUDED


Tuition for 6 credits, housing, all meals except 8 lunches, program excursions and travel, international health insurance, and emergency medical assistance.


WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED


Round-trip airfare, course textbook, additional personal travel and expenses.


FINANCIAL AID


Most financial aid that you would receive on campus can be applied toward the cost of this program. However, all financial aid eligibility is determined by SFA. UF International Center offers many study abroad scholarships, with various eligibility criteria. The Summer 2026 scholarship deadline is March 1, 2026.


SELECTION PROCESS


In order to select students for UF in Belize, the Program Director Dr. Kumaran follows a two-step process: first the student meets with Dr. Kumaran for an one-on-one information session where he explains program details and answer any questions the student may have; second, if the student is still interested in the program she/he sets up a follow up interview for selection/admission decision. CoE Graduate Program Student Personnel in Higher Education is Recruiting New Students

The University of Florida Student Personnel in Higher Education program is designed to prepare students to enter Student Affairs or related fields in higher education or education adjacent professions.


Students who join the SPHE on-campus master’s program graduate prepared to take on leadership roles in student affairs and related fields in a variety of settings. This program integrates academic coursework with practitioner-based experience to put theory into action as a scholar-practitioner, while growing your connections and building relationships across the Gator Nation.


The SPHE master’s degree consists of 33 credit hours of core classes and 3 credit hours of supervised practicum and internship experiences (36 credit hours total). Students enter the graduate program in the fall semester as members of a cohort group. The group provides support and builds a sense of community for the students. All students are assigned a faculty advisor at the time of admission and have a graduate assistantship.

  • Words on Canvas - Student competition is now open!

Write yourself into the art museum!

Words on Canvas is an annual art writing competition at the Harn Museum of Art for University of Florida and Santa Fe College students.  We invite you to engage museumgoers with your poetry or prose inspired by art at the museum. This year, students can choose from 18 artworks covering each of the Harn’s collecting areas.

Writers of winning entries will be awarded fun prizes and will have the opportunity to read their entry in front of their artwork at the Harn’s Museum Night. Their essay/poem will be printed in a brochure to be given to them and shared with audiences, as well as being entered into the archive of past winners on the Harn’s website.

Students may submit until midnight, February 28, 2026.

Winners will be announced by late-March, and the reception, award presentation, and readings will be celebrated at Harn’s April Museum Nights on April 9, 2026, in collaboration with BARD & Broadside’s open mic night!

The Whitney Lab-Summer Internship

 Education Internship 

An internship with the Education Department at the Whitney Laboratory is designed to give students or recent graduates real world experience in an informal education setting. Areas of exposure include science communication, the application of inquiry-based learning, advanced marine science topics, student management techniques, the care and use of marine invertebrates in education, and an introduction to integrating real time scientific discoveries with public education. 

Students interested in interning with the Education Department should be working towards a degree in Education, Marine Science, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field. Regardless of major, applicants should have an interest in bridging scientific ideas and concepts with public education. 

 Qualifications 

• Currently enrolled in or recent graduate from a college or university 

• Available to work from mid-May through July 3rd (approximately 7 weeks, dates may vary slightly) 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently. 

• Interns must successfully pass a level 2 DCF background check and must complete youth compliance and other required in-house trainings. 

 Duties 

Under the direction of staff, summer interns will work to prepare, deliver, and evaluate STEM summer camps. Interns will work with students from 4th-12th grade in Sea Turtle Camp (elementary school), Science Minds Camp (middle school), and SHORE Academy Camp (high school). Interns may also take part in an adult community education program. Interns may participate in professional development activities, such as staff meetings, in-house trainings, seminars, and resume-building experiences. Interns will be responsible for the completion of a poster to present at the end of the internship. Academic credit must be arranged with home institution.

The Pro Football Academy, the largest youth soccer training program in the UK operates over 150 academies and have helped over 10, 000 kids take their game to the next level in a fun, safe and educational environment. UF IRB Microplastics Survey

We are conducting an international research study to better understand how university students think and act when it comes to microplastics—tiny plastic particles found in food, water, and the environment. These particles may affect human health, but awareness and education around them vary across different countries and cultures.

This study will be conducted in the United States, France, and Turkey, allowing us to compare student knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors across different regions.

By participating, you will help us:

  • Measure student knowledge and behaviors related to microplastics
  • Compare awareness levels across multiple countries
  • Identify educational needs and policy gaps
  • Lay the groundwork for developing future public health campaigns and university-level environmental education

Balance 180 Gymnastics & Sports Academy

Balance 180 Gymnastics & Sports Academy, a local non-profit organization that focuses on integrating children with and without special needs through sports. This fall, we are offering a hands-on learning experience available for students interested in working with children. We are looking for highly motivated volunteers to participate in our Adaptive classes on Saturdays. Below is a brief description of the program.

During our Adaptive Gymnastics Classes, we teach gymnasts with physical or intellectual disabilities foundational skills on the vault, bars, beam, and floor in a step-by-step, individualized process. Our volunteers work one-on-one with the athletes and help each athlete work at their own pace. Volunteers focus on helping the athletes improve motor skills and encourage them to follow instructions and make new friends. No gymnastics experience is required to be a great volunteer. The Adaptive Gymnastics volunteering opportunities will be held on most Saturdays, listed specifically on the below flyer, from 12:30-2:30 pm.

The results from this study will help define a model for current participation in undergraduate research, which will be used to determine strategies and techniques to better encourage undergraduate participation in College of Education research opportunities.

Participants will be asked to take a brief survey, which should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. Upon completion, participants can volunteer to participate in follow-up interviews to further explore their perspectives on undergraduate research in the College of Education.

Our program provides flexibility with our tutors and our student athletes. Tutors can work with individuals or in small group settings.  Tutors and student athletes (and sometimes advisors) work together to set up times that are best for everyone, we have morning, afternoon and nighttime sessions in our center in Farrior Hall on campus. Position Summary: I am seeking a caring and dedicated aide to support my bright and engaged 2.5-year-old daughter Ada, who has cerebral palsy, in the classroom environment along similarly-aged peers. The ideal candidate will help facilitate Ada’s participation in all classroom activities while supporting her physical and developmental needs. The ideal candidate would be available for all hours, but availability for only some of the hours could also be considered. Ada receives full-time 1:1 support while in the classroom and you would be communicating at times with her other aides regarding her needs and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Ada’s participation in classroom activities and routines
  • Assist with mobility equipment including gait trainer, stander, and supportive chair
  • Help with toileting, feeding, and personal care needs
  • Support communication using Ada’s AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device
  • Facilitate peer interactions and inclusive play
  • Assist with putting on/taking off AFOs (ankle-foot orthotics) and hand braces
  • Occasionally assist during physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy sessions
